Light is rather important to our existence. And sound and light are of course a marriage made in … whatever your view is of heaven. So, we bring these two elemental phenomena together in the dramatic surroundings of St Matthew’s and present our own son et lumière performance – combining richly evocative, often Easter-inspired, choral music with a light show against the backdrop of the church’s neo-Gothic pillars. Luminaries such as Tallis, Gesualdo, Bach, Brahms, Elgar, Poulenc, Lauridsen, Hamilton and Ešenvalds will help us portray the power and mystery of light. A feast for the ears and the eyes!
